Dental Implants

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are a permanent solution for missing teeth. They consist of a titanium post that is surgically placed in the jawbone and topped with a custom crown, bridge, or denture for a natural look and feel.

Who is a good candidate for dental implants?

Most healthy adults with sufficient jawbone density are good candidates for implants. If you have bone loss, a bone graft may be needed before implant placement.

How long do dental implants last?

With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime. The crowns or prosthetics attached to them may need replacement every 10-15 years due to normal wear.

Is getting dental implants painful?

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia or sedation, so you won’t feel pain during surgery. Some mild soreness is expected after the procedure, but it can be managed with over-the-counter pain medications.

How long does the dental implant process take?

The entire process can take several months, including healing time. After the implant is placed, it needs 3-6 months to integrate with the bone before the final restoration is attached.

How do I care for my dental implants?

Just like natural teeth! Brush and floss daily, and visit us regularly for checkups to keep your implants in top shape.

Invisible Aligners (Clear Aligners or Invisalign)

What are invisible aligners?

Invisible aligners are clear, removable trays designed to gradually straighten teeth. They are a discreet and comfortable alternative to traditional braces.

How do invisible aligners work?

Aligners apply gentle pressure to shift teeth into their ideal position. You’ll receive a series of custom trays that are changed every 1-2 weeks as your teeth move into alignment.

What orthodontic issues can invisible aligners fix?

They are effective for treating:

  • Mild to moderate crowding

  • Small gaps between teeth

  • Minor bite issues (overbite, underbite, crossbite)

How long does treatment with invisible aligners take?

Treatment time varies, but most patients complete their aligner series in 6-18 months, depending on the complexity of their case.

How often do I need to wear my aligners?

You should wear your aligners for at least 20-22 hours per day for the best results. They should only be removed for eating, drinking (except water), and brushing.

Are invisible aligners painful?

You may experience mild discomfort when switching to a new set of aligners, but this usually subsides within a few days as your teeth adjust.

Can I eat and drink with my aligners in?

You should remove your aligners before eating or drinking anything other than water to prevent staining and damage.

How do I clean my aligners?

Rinse them with lukewarm water and use a soft toothbrush or aligner cleaner to prevent buildup. Avoid hot water, as it can warp the trays.

How often do I need to visit the dentist during treatment?

Check-ups are typically scheduled every 6-8 weeks to monitor progress and ensure your treatment stays on track.

What happens after I finish my aligner treatment?

To maintain your new smile, you’ll need to wear a retainer, usually at night, to prevent your teeth from shifting back.
